Narragansett Woman Dies in Rollover Accident on Route 1
South Kingstown police identify the woman as May Dumsar, 46, of 6 Rockland St.
South Kingstown Police have identified the woman who was killed last night after the minivan she was driving rolled over on Route 1 just south of Pond Street.
May Dumsar, 46, of 6 Rockland St. in Narragansett was pronounced dead at South Country Hospital last night after being transported from the accident scene. Passenger Kevin Whelan, with a listed address of 24 Cross St. in Westerly, was treated and released last night.
Their minivan that was discovered on its roof in the center median on Route 1 just south of Pond Street around 8:10 p.m. Union Fire District Special Hazards 1 and Engine 10 from Peace Dale were called to the scene and found the vehicle’s occupants were already out of the vehicle according to the UFD's dispatch radio channel.

The two victims were transported to South County Hospital, where the Dumsar succumbed to her injuries. Whelan was treated and later released.
In a press release issued by the South Kingstown Police, a preliminary investigation revealed that Dumsar lost control of her vehicle for reasons unknown while traveling northbound. The cause of the accident remains under investigation according to Police Captain Jeff Allen.
