Denied: Nathan Carman Warrant Will Not Be Sealed
A judge has denied Nathan Carman's request. He is the man whose mother was lost at sea after they left Point Judith in September.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A Connecticut judge on Thursday denied Nathan Carman's request to seal documents. Carman asked the court to seal a search warrant connected to murder victim, John Chakalos, in Windsor, Conn. Chakalos was Nathan Carman's grandfather. According to a report on Fox 61 TV, the warrant authorized a search at his former Middletown, Conn. home. The warrant indicates Carman was a suspect in the unsolved Chakalos murder case.
If the warrant is sealed, the information is no longer public and cannot be mentioned again.
Carman and his mother, Linda Carman, left a Point Judith marina on a fishing trip aboard his boat, the Chicken Pox, last September. She is presumed dead. He was rescued after spending days on a raft.

"The family has no position on today’s motion to seal," said Dan Small, attorney with Holland & Knight LLP. Small represents Linda Carman's sisters. "The warrant has been public for over two years, and a motion to seal at this point is unnecessary. There has never been any dispute that the Tactical Shotgun the police found under the warrant has no involvement in John Chakalos’ murder. However, the warrant states that the Assault Rifle does match the caliber weapon used in the murder, and it is apparently still missing."
