Obama in Rhode Island Friday

He will attending a fundraiser in Newport.

President Barack Obama will be attending a Democratic Congressional Candidates Committee fundraiser at Seafair—an Ocean Drive mansion—on Friday.

And along with the President comes his motorcade and security detail, which means Newport will see traffic and parking restrictions for the duration of Obama’s visit.

The Newport Police Department has announced parking restrictions in place on Friday from noon to 10 p.m. on Memorial Boulevard and Bellevue Avenue.

On Memorial Boulevard, the restriction runs from Thames Street to Bellevue Avenue.

On Bellevue Avenue, the restriction extends from Memorial Boulevard south to East Bowery Street.

No parking signs will be posted along the restricted route.

Police will also block off Ocean Avenue in front of the venue between Carroll and Winans Avenues.

Anyone parking in the restricted areas will be towed.

Officers will be posted along Ocean Avenue to deal with traffic control.

The fundraiser is being hosted by Rick Bready and Betty Easton.

Seafair, located at 254 Ocean Ave., is an historic oceanfront mansion that was built in 1936 and is currently is on the market for a cool $19 million.

The 15,851 square foot rubble-stone constructed and palatial gated compound includes a carriage house, tennis court, six-car garage, two elevators, central air, formal dining room with Louis XVI details, marble bath and fireplace in the master suite and 11 full bathrooms.
