Obituary: Kevin E. Purnell, 52

Kevin E. Purnell, 52, of Sarasota, Fla. passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 3 at Physicians Regional Medical Center in Naples, Fla. Born in the Bronx, N.Y. on July 15, 1962 at Lebanon Hospital, he was the son of Richard F. Purnell and Elvia E. Purnell.

Kevin attended South Kingstown High School and the University of Rhode Island. He worked as a real estate agent in both Rhode Island and Florida. He had a passion for sailing, gardening and cooking and was known for his letter-writing.

In addition to his parents, Kevin is survived by his three children: Amanda Purnell, of Warwick, R.I.; Sean Purnell, of North Port, Fla.; and Cassandra Purnell, of North Port, Fla. He is also survived by his four siblings: David Purnell, of Newport, R.I.; Sara Purnell, of Wakefield, R.I.; Rachel McCoy, of Epping, N.H.; and Jededia Purnell, of Providence, R.I.
A Catholic Mass will be held Friday, June 12 at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Road, Kingston, R.I. Light refreshments will be served following the service at the parish hall. Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. at St. Francis Cemetery, 114 High St., Wakefield, R.I.
