Police Log: Five Finger Discount
The following reports were provided by the South Kingstown Police Department and describe their actions.
South Kingstown Police arrested Erica L. Young, 28, of 346 Yawgoo Valley Road, Exeter, on Thursday, Jan. 19 at 11:03 a.m. on charges of shoplifting, a misdemeanor, and possession of a controlled substance, a felony.
Security personnel at Shaw’s Supermarket on Old Tower Hill Road called the police after they allegedly watched Young mull around the store for about an hour stealing merchandise. As Young tried to leave the store, security confronted her in the parking lot and police became involved when she became upset. According to reports, Young tried to lift $83.12 worth of merchandise while she shopped in the store for about an hour.
Police allegedly found several Hydrocodone pills wrapped in a plastic bag in her pocket. She was arraigned in Fourth Division District Court later that day.

All In The Family
Kevin Bloyed, 18, of 264 Rodman St., South Kingstown, was arrested on Jan. 11 at 11:50 a.m. and charged with simple assault after he allegedly punched his younger brother. He was arraigned later that day.
Late Night Brawl
Jonathan C. Humphries, 23, of 37 Malcom Road, Mahwah, NJ, was arrested on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 11:40 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct and possession of marijuana, first offense. Humphries allegedly started a fight in the middle of Matunuck Beach Road with his friend who was trying to drive home. According to reports, both men were intoxicated. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on Jan. 26.

Tips From the Cash Drawer
Frank L. Skaggs, 24, of 146 Clinton Drive, North Kingstown, was arrested on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 8:22 p.m. and charged with larceny of less than $500, a misdemeanor. Skaggs allegedly stole a flash drive, cash and receipts worth about $140 from the Dunkin Donuts where he worked. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on Jan .26.
Suspended License Charges
Martin Lopez Jr., 43, of 292 Ocean Ave. Apt 11, New London, CT, was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 10:31 a.m. and charged with driving with a suspended license after he was stopped on Saugatucket Road for speeding. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on Jan. 26.
Zachery Kevin Robert, 22, of 22 Seminole Trail, West Greenwich, was arrested on Wednesday, Jan.18 at 1:15 p.m. and charged with driving with a suspended license after he was stopped on Kingstown Road because his car had no active registration. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on Jan. 26.
John R. McKenna, 49, of 25 Amos St. Apt. 2, South Kingstown, was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 3:40 p.m. and charged with driving with a suspended license after he was stopped on Columbia St. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on Jan. 26.
Arrested on Warrant
Kenneth E. Wilson, 41, of 117 Dam St., South Kingstown, was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 10:36 p.m. on two active district court bench warrants. He was arraigned on Thursday, Jan. 19.
Drunken-Driving Charge
Jessica A. Johnson, 21, of 117 Dam St. Apt. C4, South Kingstown, was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 10:37 p.m. and charged with driving under the influence, first offense, BAC unknown, and refusal to submit to a chemical test. She was also cited for laned-roadway violations and for an open alcohol container in her car. Johnson initially denied drinking or doing drugs that night, but later told police she drank two beers and smoked a joint a friend’s house in Green Hill. She allegedly told police she was fine and they could just take the car. She will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on Feb. 2.
Nabbed on Warrant
Christopher Lee Harvey, 22, of 415 Friendship St., Providence, was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 19 at 10:25 a.m. on two active district court bench warrants for fraudulent use of credit cards and another for obstructing a police officer. He was arraigned in Fourth Division District Court later that day.
Suspended License Charges
Peter Joseph Urso, 50, of 288 Shore Road, Westerly, was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 19 at 11:40 a.m. and charged with driving with a suspended license. He was arraigned in Fourth Division District Court that day.
Joy A. Forand, 41, of 91 Community Drive, South Kingstown, was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 19 at 12:08 p.m. and charged with driving with a suspended license after she was pulled over for speeding on Matunuck Beach Road. She will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on Feb. 2.
Jeremy J. Brady, 22, of 737 Old Baptist Road, North Kingstown, was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 19 at 4:28 p.m. and charged with driving with a suspended license after police stopped his pickup truck on Legend Rock Road because it did not have an inspection sticker. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on Feb. 2.
