Police Log: Stranger Danger

A 15-year-old girl reported on Friday, Jan. 20 at 3:56 p.m. that a man in a white four door sedan with Connecticut plates attempted to lure her into his car while she was walking home from the high school on Sunset Avenue. The girl told police the driver was a white man with brown hair and wore large, white-rimmed sunglasses. According to South Kingstown Police reports, the driver pulled his car over in front of the girl while she was walking down the street, beeped, and beckoned her to come over to his car. After she ignored the driver the first time, he did it again. The girl told the driver ‘no’ and started walking toward other people. This prompted the driver to pull out his parking space and drive back toward the high school. No charges have been filed at this time. John Robert Gordon, 51, 121 Nattingham Drive, West Warwick, was arrested on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 10:15 a.m. and charged with violating banking law for issuing a check in the amount of $1,166.78 to Supply New England with insufficient funds in his account, a felony. He was released on bail later that day.

Suspended License Charge

Paris T. Peters, 20, of 450 Providence St. Apt. 4, West Warwick, was arrested on Sunday, Jan. 22 at 8:40 p.m. and charged with driving with a suspended license after police pulled his car over to question him about a breaking and entering in the area. Police also found Peters had an active warrant for failure to appear during an NCIC check. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on Jan. 23.

Hennessey Bandit

Patricia A. Crowe, 50, of 1080 Broad Rock Road, South Kingstown, was arrested on Friday, Jan. 20 at 5:45 p.m. and charged with two counts of shoplifting, both misdemeanors. According to reports, Crowe was caught on camera on two separate occasions stealing bottles of Hennessy from Geaber’s Liquors, 231 Old Tower Hill Road. She will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on Feb. 2.

Breaking and Entering

Robert F. Gay reported on Friday, Jan. 20 at 9:12 p.m. that someone broke into his home on Route 1 and stole $955 worth of jewelry and other items. According to reports, Gay did not lock his kitchen door when the thief broke in on Thursday while he and his girlfriend were at work between 8 a.m and 4 p.m. Police were unable to find any physical evidence at the scene and Gay couldn’t think of anyone who would target him.

TV Stolen From Post Road Home

A Post Road home belonging to a 97-year-old woman was burgled on Saturday, Jan. 21 and thieves took off with a $450 television set. A plow driver noticed the front door of the home was wide open while he plowed the driveway around 9:20 p.m. Police were unable to find physical evidence at the scene and are investigating several possible leads at this time.
