Police Log: Underage And In Possession

South Kingstown Police arrested Michael R. Pezzullo, 22, of 42 Crossways Road, East Greenwich, on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 9:10 p.m. on a charge of procurement of alcohol for a minor. According to reports, police watched Pezzullo leave Wakefield Liquors with a 30-pack of beer, a 12-pack of beer and a bottle of gin. Police said Pezzullo then got into an over-loaded car with young-looking passengers. Police stopped the car over on Kingstown Road because of the extra passenger and the 19-year-old driver, Samuel J. Weintraub, admitted the alcohol was in the trunk.

After Pezzullo admitted he bought the alcohol he allegedly told police, “It’s not for me, I don’t really drink much.”

When police asked Weintraub if the alcohol was for him and the other passengers he allegedly told police, “It’s not just for us, there will be other people drinking it too.”

Police arrested Pezzullo, cited Weintraub and searched the other four passengers, where two had beer in their backpacks. They were Stephen J. Fontana, 19, of 101 Bay St., East Atlantic Beach, NY, and Morgan T. Wolven, 19, of 1140 Croton Road, Flemington, NJ.

All will be arraigned in Fourth Division Court on March 1.

Drunken-Driving Charge

Lori J. Falk, 40, of 121 Hoover St. Apt. 1, North Kingstown, was arrested on Feb. 16 at 3:30 p.m. and charged with driving under the influence and reckless driving, after her car was in an accident and flipped over. No arraignment date was listed in a police report.

Willful Trespass X2

Donald F. MacDonald, 39, of 766 Middlebridge Road, was arrested Feb. 17 at 8:45 a.m. and charged with willful trespass.

MacDonald was arrested for willful trespass at the same address again on Feb. 19 at 12:29 p.m. after police found him again at the Middlebridge address where his mother and sister had forbade him to return. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Fourth Division Court on both charges on March 8.

Domestic Assault Charges:

Krystal E. Sherman, 25, of 766 Middlebridge Road, was arrested on Feb. 17 at 9:06 a.m. and charged with domestic assault after an argument erupted between herself and her uncle early that morning. She was arraigned in Fourth Division District Court later that day.

A 15-year-old girl was arrested on Feb. 17 at 2:33 p.m. and charged with simple assault after her mother called police during an argument. According to reports, the girl’s mother found alcohol bottles in her room and confronted her when she came home from school. The girl allegedly became enraged and physically abusive toward her mother after the confrontation, prompting her mother to call police. The matter was referred to Family Court.

Vandalism

A 14-year-old boy was arrested on Feb. 17 at 3:19 p.m. and charged with vandalism after staff at the Child and Family Group Home on Liberty Lane said the boy broke a window. The matter was referred to the juvenile division.         

Suspended License

Robert Nyman, 57, of 121 Vina Lane, Brooklyn, CT, was arrested on Feb. 17 at 4:46 p.m. and charged with driving with a suspended license after he was stopped on Curtis Corner Road for speeding and police discovered his Connecticut license had been expired since 1993. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division Court on March 1.

Underage Alcohol Possession

Alyson M. Schaffrick, 18, of 323 Jerome Ave., Bristol, CT, was cited on Friday, Feb. 17 at 7:42 p.m. and charged with transportation of alcohol by an underage person. She will be arraigned in Fourth Division Court on March 1.

Drunken-Driving Charge

Russell C. Koza, 42, of 901 Mooresfield Road, was arrested on Feb. 17 at 9:22 p.m. and charged with driving under the influence, first offense, BAC unknown and refusal to submit to a chemical test after he was stopped for speeding on Route 138. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division Court on March 1.

Marijuana Charge

Nancy J. Kennedy, 44, of 239 Foddering Farm Road, Narragansett, was arrested on Feb. 18, at 6:08 p.m. and charged with possession of marijuana, first offense, and driving in possession of a controlled substance, after police stopped her car for making an illegal u-turn on Old Tower Hill Road. She will be arraigned in Fourth Division Court on March 1.

Drunken-Driving Charge

Donna M. Passaretti, 51, of 138 Riverside Drive, was arrested on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 8:15 p.m. and charged with driving under the influence, first offense, BAC unknown and refusal to submit to a chemical test. She will be arraigned in Fourth Division Court on March 1.

Underage Alcohol Possession

Alexander P. Lustbader, 18, 11 Sparrow Road, Randolph, NJ, was arrested on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 1:20 a.m. and charged with possession of marijuana, first offense, and transportation of alcohol by an underage person after he was stopped for speeding on Route 1. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division Court on March 1.

Multiple Violations

Gary L. Saporita, 37, of 55 Meadowbrook Way Apt. 2, was arrested on Feb. 19 at 12:37 p.m. and charged with failure to appear for a summons and domestic violation of a no contact order. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division Court on March 1.

Suspended License Charge

Zong Dong Zhu, 34, of 120 Fortin Road, was arrested Feb. 20 at 1:20 a.m. and charged with driving with a suspended license after he was stopped for speeding on Kingstown Road. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division Court on March 1.

Arrested on Multiple Charges

Brandon O’Brien, 18, of 26 Ellsworth Road, Peabody, MA, was arrested on Feb. 20 at 2:06 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence, refusal to submit to a chemical test and possession of false identification. According to reports, police say O’Brien’s car was speeding on Kingstown Road, and as they followed to stop it, saw it swerving across lanes. O'Briean allegedly failed three sobriety tests and although he denied drinking alcohol, he reportedly admitted to police that he had smoked a joint with friends. After O’Brien was arrested on suspicion of DUI, police found a false New Jersey identification card in his wallet, according to reports. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division Court on March 1.

Suspended License Charge

Steven Kilgore, 30, of 17 Hendricks St., was arrested Feb. 20 at 11:05 a.m. and charged with driving with a suspended license after he was stopped for speeding on Route 1. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division Court on March 8.

Underage Alcohol Possession

Ariana Hamner, 20, of 1467 Route 292, Holmes, NY, was cited on Feb. 20 at 5:19 p.m. and charged with possession of alcohol by an underage person. She will be arraigned in Fourth Division Court on March 6.
