Police Log: Young Guns

A 17-year-old Wakefield boy was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 2:30 p.m. and charged with four felony counts of gun possession and two misdemeanor weapons charges. Police stopped the SKHS student in his gray pickup truck after reportedly watching it exit a driveway on Old North Road with no plate. The truck allegedly smelled like marijuana, although police found none in car. After a search of the truck, police found two knives accessible to driver and seized them. They also seized two gums after finding a loaded rifle and an unloaded shot gun behind the drivers’ seat. Police also found about $30 worth of ammunition. The juvenile was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a minor, possession of ammunition by a minor, and possessing a loaded weapon in a vehicle, all felonies. He was also charged with two misdemeanor counts of possessing weapons other than firearms. The youth told police the guns were left in his truck after he went hunting about a week ago. He was arraigned in Family Court later that day.

Larceny Charge

Josh T. Good, 24, of 91 Roberts St. Apt. H, West Warwick, was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 7:27 p.m. and charged with larceny of more than $500 after he allegedly stole two saddles valued at $2,300.  He was arraigned that evening and released on $5,000 personal recognizance pending a hearing on March 14.

Car Theft

A Charlestown woman reported on Friday, Feb. 3 at 2:36 p.m. that someone broke into her car while it was parked at the Bradley School where she works. A GPS navigator and a Samsung Galaxy tablet were stolen. The missing electronics are estimated to cost $1,000. Police are investigating the incident.

Public Drunkeness

Troy J. Colafrancesco, 26, of 18 Fortin Road, South Kingstown was cited on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 2 a.m. for improper conduct after violating the town’s ordinance. According to reports, a Whitford Road woman called police when she was awoken by an intoxicated man on her yard screaming for someone named Mark. Colafrancesco will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on Feb. 16.

Underage Drinkers

David B. Klausner, 18, of 193 White Oak Ridge, Short Hills, NJ, was cited on Monday, Feb. 6 at 8 p.m. and charged with underage transportation of alcohol. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Feb. 16

Drunken-Driving Charge

Jonathan O. Teixeira, 24, of 261 Power Road Apt. 1, Pawtucket, was arrested on Monday, Feb. 6 at 12:46 a.m. and charged with driving with a suspended license and driving under the influence, first offense, blood-alcohol level .15 or greater after police allegedly watched him swerve while driving on Tower Hill Road. According to reports, Teixeira blew a .23 and a .207 at the station. Teixeira will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on Feb. 6.

Marijuana Possession

Samuel G. Ramaker, 50, of 272 Hillsdale Road, Richmond, was arrested on Sunday, Feb. 5 at noon and charged with possession of marijuana. Police stopped his car for speeding on Ministerial Road, where police found an open beer and smelled marijuana in the car. After a search of the car, police found 9.9 ounces in various jars. Ramaker claimed to have 2 medical marijuana cards. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on Feb. 23.

Asleep At The Wheel

Nicholas E. Matos, 20, of 285 Burnt Hill Road, Hope, was arrested on Sunday, Feb. 5 at 1:59 a.m. for driving under the influence, first offense, BAC unknown, refusal to submit to a chemical test, driving while in possession of a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana, first offense. Matos was allegedly asleep in his car, but had stopped it in the right-hand lane blocking traffic on Route 1 north near Bridgetown Road. According to reports, it took police over 1 minute to wake Matos, who had left his car in gear with his foot on the break as he took a snooze on the highway. Matos will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on Feb. 16.

Warrants

Mason E. Wilson, 24, of 65 Ralph St. Apt. 1F, Providence, was arrested on Feb. 4 at 5 p.m. on a bench warrant for failure to appear for a payment review. Wilson will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on Feb. 16.

Juvenile Charged

A 17-year-old South Kingstown girl was arrested and charged with vandalism on Feb. 3 at 3:38 p.m. The incident was referred to the Juvenile Division.

Warrants

Gary Barnes, 54, of 148 Church St., South Kingstown, was arrested on Friday, Feb. 3 at 9:40 a.m. on a warrant for failure to appear for possession of an unloaded firearm. He was arraigned later that day in Fourth Division District Court.
