Power Restored To Most Rhode Islanders As Temperatures Soar
Dangerously high temperatures have returned to southern New England, with heat indices expected to peak near 100 degrees.

NARRAGANSETT, RI — Nearly all Rhode Islanders have their lights back on Wednesday morning, and not a moment too soon. Scorching temperatures are back in the region, with feel-like temperatures expected to push 100 degrees in the coming days.
Late Tuesday night, National Grid said power had been restored to 95 percent of customers affected by Tropical Storm Henri. By Wednesday morning, outage numbers were in the low triple digits — just 165 statewide. All but 10 of those customers were in Washington County, which was hit the hardest by the storm.

Power restoration was the main priority after the storm, Gov. Dan McKee said Sunday night, ahead of dangerously high temperatures in the forecast.
Those high temperatures have arrived, along with a blanket of high humidity. The heat index — or relative "feel-like" temperature based on both temperature and humidity — is expected to climb to 97 degrees in Providence on Wednesday and Thursday, then falling ever-so-slightly to 91 degrees on Friday.
