SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI — Retired Union Fire District of South Kingstown (UFD) Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Quinn was named the 2023 Frederick A. Stanley Dedicated Service Award winner, Fire Chief Steven Pinch said Monday.

On Wednesday, the Rhode Island Southern Firefighters League presented the award to Quinn at its annual President's Steak Fry Meeting.

Nominations are accepted each year in November for the Frederick A. Stanley Dedicated Service Award by the RI Southern Firefighters League, with the criteria based on the traits of a U.S. marine.

Stanley served and lived by the phrase, "Once a Marine, Always a Marine." Stanley was chief for 50 years at the Hope Valley-Wyoming Fire District that serves Hopkinton and Richmond. He served in the fire service for over 67 years.

Pinch said he nominated Quinn for the award. The award is given to a member of the Rhode Island Southern Firefighters League who has gone above and beyond to contribute to the league and its members.

Even after retirement, Quinn remains an active firefighter at UFD Station 3, Forestry. Quinn has been involved in the fire service on a national level for over 40 years, where he served in many capacities including chair of the National Volunteer Fire Council.

"I'm honored to nominate Chief Quinn for this prestigious award," Pinch said. "I want to congratulate him for his steadfast dedication and commitment to the fire service. He truly deserves the recognition."
