Rhode Island Olympian Elizabeth Beisel Competing On 'Survivor'

SAUNDERSTOWN, RI — South County's very own Olympian is returning to national television. 26-year-old Elizabeth Beisel is a member of the latest cast of "Survivor."
The three-time Olympian made her debut at just 15 years old in the Beijing games in 2008, the youngest member of Team USA. In 2012, she took home a silver and a bronze medal in swimming in London.
This season, the show's 39th, is called "Island of the Idols," where previous winners will mentor the new teams to help them succeed.

"I'm physically, mentally, and socially strong. I can easily connect with people—my alliances will be strong and help carry me through the game," Beisel said in her show biography. "I can win individual Immunity due to my strength as an athlete. I'm a tough girl who will fight until the end."
Beisel continued that her competitive spirit pushed her to compete on the show.

"I retired from swimming a year ago and I miss challenging myself and bringing myself to the edge," she said. "Second reason ... one million dollars."
"Survivor" premiers on CBS at 8 p.m. on September 25.
