This year, beachgoers have the option to purchase season parking passes online instead of only in-person.

It's almost opening day for Rhode Island State beaches, when beachgoers have to pay to park at state-owned beaches when the season officially starts on Tuesday, May 28. This year, buying a season pass is a little bit easier, with passes available for purchase online.

Season passes cost between $15 and $60 dollars and allow entry into parking lots at all eight of Rhode Island's state beaches: Charlestown Breachway, East Beach in Charlestown, Roger Wheeler State Beach in Narragansett, Salty Brine State Beach in Narragansett, Scarborough Beach in Narragansett, East Matunuck Beach in South Kingstown and Misquamicut Beach in Westerly. State beach parking is always on a first-come, first-served basis and priority will not be given to season passholders on busy days.

To buy a season pass online, visit the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management's website, where you will be prompted to enter your vehicle registration number and credit card information. An additional convenience fee will be charged.
