RI DEM Lifeguard Test Rescheduled Due To Inclement Weather

NARRAGANSETT, RI — If you're interested in becoming a lifeguard at one of Rhode Island's state beaches, you have a few more days to prepare for the test. The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management's lifeguard test, scheduled for Thursday, has been moved to next week due to inclement weather.

The test will now be held on Tuesday, June 18 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Anyone who pre-registered for a specific time slot will have their registration carried over to the new date.

"Because we realize this was an inconvenience for many candidates, we have extended the hours beyond the typical 2 p.m. cut-off to help accommodate schedules," the department said.

To qualify, all candidate must be certified in lifeguard training, first aid and CPR from a nationally accredited organization such as the American Red Cross. On the day of the test, bring proof of certification along with a photo ID showing your name and date of birth as well as $10 in cash or a check. Anyone under the age of 18 will have to have a parent or legal guardian sign a waiver, which can be filled out ahead of time by emailing Tom Rosa with the DEM.
