RI State Parks, Beaches To Stay Open After Labor Day

NARRAGANSETT, RI — Rhode Island state beaches are staying open a little longer than usual this year. During Monday's news conference, Gov. Gina Raimondo said restrooms will stay open for an additional two weeks after Labor Day.

Parking will be free, though there will be no lifeguards at beaches after the holiday weekend.

Rhode Islanders are encouraged to continue to take safety precautions at beaches, maintaining a safe distance from other people while on the beach, wearing a mask in restrooms and other common areas and not gathering in large groups on the beach.

Raimondo also announced an expansion of the "Take It Outside" campaign, which encourages communities to move events and gatherings outside as much as possible. Starting now, groups and organizations can reserve space at state parks and outdoor spaces for classes, meetings, group fitness and more. Reserve space at Fort Adams, Lincoln Woods and other state parks online, with many offering free Wi-Fi.
