RI Summer Camp Beach Reopened, Another Again Closed
Camp Hoffman is back open, while Camp Canonicus' beachfront was again closed for high bacteria levels.

KINGSTON, RI — The Rhode Island Department of Health gave the green-light for swimming at a Rhode Island Girl Scout camp Tuesday, the same day it called for the closure of the waterfront at another camp.
The waterfront at Camp Hoffman on Larkin Pond was reopened, the department said, after bacteria in the water returned to safe levels.
Exeter's Camp Canonicus, meanwhile, was again closed due to high levels of bacteria in the water. The camp's beach was only open for a few days following the previous closure.

The closures are likely connected to the large amount of rain that has fallen in Rhode Island over the past few weeks. More rain means more storm runoff, which can carry bacteria into the water.
