Seal Released At Blue Shutters Beach

CHARLESTOWN, RI — A rehabilitated seal was released back into the ocean at Blue Shutters Beach in Charlestown on Tuesday. The young harbor seal was named Edelman for Patriots wide receiver and Superbowl MVP Julian Edelman and rescued off the coast of Maine.

Edelman was believed to have been abandoned shortly after birth and was rescued by Marine Mammals of Maine. He was taken to the Animal Rescue Clinic at Mystic Aquarium, where he was given round-the-clock care for several weeks. Now, several months later, he was deemed ready to return to the wild and was released Tuesday morning.
