Should a Tattoo Studio Be Allowed in Narragansett?

Rachel Weisz-Smith wants to move her tattoo studio to Narragansett.

She’s the owner of Rachel WS Custom Tattoos in Narragansett. She wants to relocate to a space at 142 Boon St. in Narragansett.

“My town is Narragansett,” she told NBC 10. “It’s where I raise my children. It’s where I reside, and I miss being part of an artist community.”

The Zoning Board reviewed her proposal but did not make a ruling last week. It could do so at its next meeting Nov. 20. Artists are allowed in that section of Boon Street, and the board will have to determine if Weisz-Smith qualifies as an artist. She said she does.

“Tattooing is one of the oldest and most widespread forms of art on this planet,” she wrote in a Facebook post.
