South County Singers Spring Concert is March 22

Opening pieces include Mozart's Ave Verum, a chorale from Bach's St. John Passion, Garzilli's Psalm 23 and Forrest's Nearer, Still Nearer.

South County Chamber Singers, under the baton of Dr. Enrico Garzilli, will present their annual spring concert at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High Street, Wakefield, RI on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at 3pm. Although traditionally performed on Palm Sunday, this year the concert will be one week earlier.

Opening pieces include Mozart’s Ave Verum, a chorale from Bach’s St. John Passion, Garzilli’s Psalm 23 and Forrest’s Nearer, Still Nearer. The concert ends with Mozart’s famous Coronation Mass in C, K.317, which premiered in Salzburg on Easter Sunday, 1779. The Chamber Singers will be joined by Sharon Key, soprano, Georgette Hutchins,alto, Richard Johnson, tenor, and Tim Hoyt, bass. Instrumentalists are Gina Seraichyk,flute, and Jean Maxon Carpenter, keyboard.

In the spirit of the Lenten season, there will be a free-will offering collected.

This concert continues the 31st season of South County Chamber Singers and is made possible in part by a grant from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts.
