South Kingstown Hardware Store Closing After Almost 70 Years

Damon’s Hardware, which opened in 1945 on Main Street South Kingstown, is closing.

WPRI reported owner David Chappell, who purchased the business from his aunt and uncle, said it’s bittersweet.

“We have had a tremendous loyal customer base over the years and probably one of the biggest assets I bring to this, is I have a great ability to remember people’s first names,” Chappell told WPRI.

The store is having a liquidation sale before it closes for good Dec. 20.
