An accident victim slaps the driver who hit her, URI events spur multiple arrests, and a Welcome House resident reports sexual assault.

Accident Victim Assaults 18-Year-Old Driver Who Hit Her
Barbara Fethers, 56, of 32 Algerine Road, Lansing, NY, was arrested on Friday, April 27 at 10:11 a.m. and charged with simple assault.

According to an arrest report, Fethers was rear-ended by an 18-year-old driver on Mooresfield Road. When the woman went to check on Fethers' wellbeing after the collision, Fethers allegedly slapped the woman across the face and said, “You *****, you could have killed my mother!”
Fethers was arraigned in Fourth Division District Court and released later that day.

Events Held At The On The Campus Lead To Multiple Alcohol-Related Arrests
- Cadence M. Beauregard, 19, of 82 Rocky Hill Road, Rehoboth, MA, was cited on Tuesday, April 24 at 6:55 p.m. and charged with possession of alcohol by an underage person. She will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on May 3.
- Shawn Hopton, 19, of 16 Joe Sweet Road, Glocester, was cited on Wednesday, April 25 at 6:55 p.m. and charged with possession of alcohol by an underage person. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on May 3.
- Renee S. Bilodeau, 19, of 20 Hilwood Drive, Grandy, CT, was cited on Tuesday, April 24 at 8:35 p.m. and charged with possession of alcohol by an underage person. She will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on May 3.
- Anna L. Schmidt, 19, of 40 Bayview Ave., Larkspur, CT, was was cited on Tuesday, April 24 at 8:35 p.m. and charged with possession of alcohol by an underage person. She will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on May 3.
- Meredith Miedama, 18, of 70 West 55th St., Ocean City, NJ, was arrested on Tuesday, April 24 at 11:37 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and simple assault. According to reports Miedama was attending an event at the Ryan Center, but event staff would not let her in due to her level of intoxication. She was arraigned in Fourth Division District Court later that day.
- Taylor M. Baude, 21, of 44 Goshen Road, Waterford, CT, was cited on Wednesday, April 25 with violating a town ordinance on improper conduct after police saw her throwing objects out of a moving car at the Ryan Center in Kingston. An arraignment date was not available.
- Samuel J. Desmond, 22, of 96 Wilkey Ave., Portsmouth, was arrested on Tuesday, April 24 at 8:20 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct after he was ejected from an event at the Ryan Center. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on May 3.
Note: According to the Ryan Center event calendar, April 24 featured a hosting of DAYGLOW, “the world’s largest paint party.”
A Welcome House Resident Reports Sexual Assault In Public Library Bathroom
Hicham El Majni, 36, of 8 North Road, was arrested on Monday, April 23 at 12:23 p.m. and charged with first-degree sexual assault after a 44-year-old woman reported he had assaulted her in the bathroom at the Peace Dale Library.
According to reports, Majni allegedly admitted to committing the assault. Both Majini and the victim are residents of the Welcome House, located at 8 North Road, and had known each other for about a week prior to the assault. An arraignment date was not available at press time.
Multiple Charges
- Stafford Williams, 27, of 68 Twin Leaf Trail, Saunderstown, was arrested on Friday, April 27 at 7:48 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct, obstructing an officer, and simple assault, all misdemeanors. Williams was transported to the Adult Correctional Institution in Cranston that night. He was arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on Monday, April 30 and released on $5,000 personal recognizance plus costs.
- Paul Daniel Johnson, 29, homeless, of Narragansett, was arrested on Sunday, April 29 at 10:17 a.m. and charged with disorderly conduct. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on May 10.
- Haywood D. House, 22, of 484 High St., was arrested on Friday, April 27 at 7:40 p.m. on a bench warrant from Third Division District Court. He was transported to the ACI later that day.
- Alexandra G. Botts, 25, of 26 Cypress St. Apt. 3, Providence, was arrested on Thursday, April 26 at 4:23 p.m. on a bench warrant from Sixth Division District Court for obtaining food and beverage with the intent to defraud. She was released to West Warwick Police later that day.
- Alexander X. Blunt, 18, of 73 Wright Ave., was arrested on Wednesday, April 25 at 7:53 a.m. and charged with disorderly conduct stemming from an incident at CVS on April 19. An arraignment date was not available.
- Ismaray L. Reigosa, 21, of 103 Indiana Ave., Providence, was arrested on Wednesday, April 25 at 12:46 a.m. on a bench warrant from Sixth Division District Court for failure to appear for an arraignment. She was arraigned in Fourth Division Court and released later that day.
- Alexander A. Ghanem, 19, of 155 Yawgoo Valley Road Apt. C, Exeter, was arrested on Tuesday, April 24 at 6:31 p.m. and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, first offense, and driving in possession of a controlled substance after police stopped his vehicle on Route 138 because of an expired registration sticker. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on May 3.
Drivers Caught Without A License, Allegedly
- Anthony L. Pizzo, 29, of 71 Crestwood Drive, Narragansett, was arrested on Friday, April 27 at 5:43 p.m. and charged with driving with a suspended license after his car collided with a parked car on Main Street. Pizzo will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on May 10.
- John Howard Swanson, 45, of 49 Orchard Ave., was arrested on Thursday, April 26 at 8:11 a.m. and charged with driving with a suspended license. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on May 10.
Multiple Arrests For Underage Alcohol Possession
- Cullen A. McCoy, 19, of 15 Maize Drive, Charlestown, was arrested on Saturday, April 28 at 2:15 p.m. and charged with transportation of alcohol by an underage person after police found 36 cans of beer in his car. According to reports, McCoy and his 21-year-old passenger were headed to a friend’s house in Narragansett when he was stopped on High Street. Police confiscated the beer, but told the of-age passenger he could report to South Kingstown Police headquarters on Kingstown Road alone and retrieve his wares. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on May 10.
- Benjamin H. Lippitt, 19, of 318 Brookline Drive, Warwick, was arrested on Sunday, April 29 at 12:25 a.m. and charged with driving un possession of a controlled substance, transportation of alcohol by an underage person, and possession of marijuana – first offense. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on May 10.
Loud Party In Matunuck Leads To Arrests
Ryan M. Meade, 22, of 5 Barnyard Lane, Setauket, NY, was arrested on Saturday, April 28 at 9:50 p.m. and charged with procurement of alcohol for a minor after police responded to an apartment on Succotash Road for a report of a noise complaint. Inside police found a keg of beer with an orange declaration sticker attached that cited Meade as the buyer. Inside the apartment police found underage people drinking alcohol and arrested Meade for providing the drinks. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on May 10.
North Providence Woman Arrested A Second Time For Wilfull Trespass
Caitlin J. Delsesto, 22, of 37 Brae St., North Providence, was arrested on Sunday, April 29 at 9:30 a.m. and charged with willful trespass and resisting arrest. Delsesto was warned not to visit a URI-student rental home located at 25 Fortin Road earlier this year, and arrested in February for violating the no trespass order. This time, Delsesto refused to go quietly, reportedly cussing and fighting with the female officer who arrested Delsesto.
She will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on May 10.
Local Break-Ins Reported
- An unidentified Conant Lane couple reported on Friday, April 27 at 2:40 p.m. that about $3,800 worth of gold and diamond jewelry was missing from her home. According the reports, the Kingston couple had been away and a neighbor, with access to the home, had been watching the house. There was no sign of forced entry, but police are investigating the incident.
- Kyle Spitzer, of North Kingstown, reported on Sunday, April 29 at 2:31 p.m. that his 2003 red-colored Ford F250 was missing from the parking lot of the Kingston Amtrak station. According to reports, Spitzer and his wife parked the truck in the lot before boarding a train to New York on Saturday and when they arrived back the next day, could not locate the truck. Police are investigating the incident.
- Mary C. Riedford, of 22 Warner Ave., reported on Thursday, April 26 at 8:40 p.m. that someone broke into her home and stole $7,900 worth of electronics and jewelry. Police are investigating the incident.
Several Arrested On Drunken-Driving Charges
- Frank W. Szymanski, 22, of 15 Shannock Road, was arrested on Saturday, April 28 at 1:09 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test. Szymanski will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on May 10.
- Michael R. Collins, 27, of 30 Johnson Place, was arrested on Friday, April 27 at 1:42 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence, second offense, BAC unknown, and refusal to submit to a chemical test. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on May 10.
- Peter D. Conopask, 25, of 65 Pierce Road, was arrested on Thursday, April 26 at 1:52 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence, first offense, BAC unknown, refusal to submit to a chemical test, and possession of marijuana, first offense. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on May 10.
'Incessant' Dog Barking Leads To Town Ordinance Violation For Resident
Jamie Sylvander, 49 of 1434 Broad Rock Road, was cited on Monday, April 23 at 10:15 a.m. and charged with violation of the town ordinance for care and control of dogs after a neighbor called because Sylvander’s dog was allegedly barking incessantly. Sylvander will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on May 3.
