South Kingstown Valentine's Day Survival Guide
You might not think much is going on Monday night, but we found the best spots to visit to get your point across this year, no matter what your point may be.

With Valentine’s Day falling on a Monday this year, you might be wondering where to take that certain someone for the perfect evening.
Whether you want to pop the question or call it quits, we peeked into every corner of South Kingstown to find the perfect atmosphere for whatever it is you want to say this Valentine's Day. If you want to:
- Say I Love You for the First Time: The dimly-lit exotic atmosphere at Kabuki Asian Bistro on Old Tower Hill Road will provide a memorable setting for this relationship milestone. For $50 per couple, you won’t risk spending too much chasing unrequited love, but your date is sure to be impressed by the fabulous Japanese cuisine. Dinner will include a glass of wine, a cup of Kabuki’s specialty soup, crab or seaweed salad, your choice of two entrees and, of course, dessert. The deal is for VIP cardholders only, so don’t forget to sign up before you pay the bill. All couples will also receive a complementary gift bag of chopsticks and chocolates.
- Pop the Question: Plan for a seaside evening at the Matunuck Oyster Bar on Succotash Road. Nothing says forever like five-course meal complete with oysters on the half shell and a delicious dessert trio. For $100 per couple, patrons will have their choice of a tuna Carpaccio or grilled shrimp appetizer followed by a choice of braised beef short rib, coconut curry shellfish stew or pan-seared fluke for an entrée. Just be sure to save room for the dessert trio – red velvet whoopee pie, chili-chocolate truffles and passion fruit mousse.
- Have a Relaxing, Romantic Evening: Head over to the Italian Village on Main Street in Wakefield and indulge in the dinner for two special. Starting on Friday and lasing through Valentine’s Day, couples can enjoy a four-course Italian meal for just $65 for both. An appetizer, salad, entrée choice and ice cream or mousse for dessert will be sure to make you special someone feel appreciated without making your wallet fret.
- Impress Your Date: The Pump House Restaurant and Pub on Kingstown Road will offer specialty Valentine’s Day entrees at a price that won’t break the bank. The rustic atmosphere will ensure that you and your date have a laid back, yet tasty, dinner date on Monday. Chefs will feature two specialty entrees, a filet mignon with rosemary and wild mushroom demi glaze and an Atlantic salmon baked with Dijon and dill and finished with a citrus burre blanc. Dessert will be a dark chocolate cheesecake with Bailey’s Irish Cream.
- Break Up: If your intentions are a little more raucous than romantic this Valentine’s Day, nothing can help you get the message across quite like taking your date to the Mainfare Food Court at Hope Commons on the University of Rhode Island campus. No other setting, other than a very public one, can diffuse a screaming match or offer your devastated ex the comfort of indulging in an endless buffet of pizza, Chinese food and chocolate pudding.
