South Kingstown Veterans Day Parade Tuesday at 10 a.m.

The route starts at Holly Street, goes through Main Street, and ends at Saugatucket Park.

The following is from the Town of South Kingstown:

The South Kingstown Veteran’s Day Parade, sponsored by the American Legion
Post 39 and the Town of South Kingstown, will be conducted on Tuesday, November 11,
2014 beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The parade route will start on Holly Street, turn onto Main Street, with the final
quarter mile on High Street, finishing at Saugatucket Park.

The parade will feature several Veterans Organizations including the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and the Vietnam Veterans of America, as well as the South Kingstown and Chariho High School bands, numerous military marching groups, community organizations, and several public safety agencies.

Donald E. Boldt, US Army Ret. SFC, will serve as the parade’s Grand Marshall. Mr. Boldt served in the RI National Guard from 1987 to 1994; and active duty with the United States Army from 1994 to 2010. He served two tours of duty overseas in Afghanistan from 2004-05 and from 2006-2008. Among his many decorations, Sargeant Boldt received two meritorious service medals, three commendation medals, two National Defense medals, two Campaign Stars: the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Medal.

Following the parade, a ceremony honoring all veterans will be conducted at Saugatucket Park beginning at approximately 11:00 a.m. James Haldeman, Colonel USMC Retired, will serve as the Master of Ceremonies. Father Henry J. Bodah, Pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Church will offer the ceremony’s invocation and benediction.
