Surviving 'Life'...

Although, I live with a chronic-condition, with a certain level of pain and discomfort a part of my 'day to day', this is NOT who I am; for I do not define myself through my disorder. It is, simply, a part of who I am, and, have been, for the past, decade. Although, I don't define myself by and through this, ailment, I have, indeed, had to 'redefine' my life, a touch, as the result of living with it; for, as the result of it, I am no longer capable of performing at some, certain, tasks, as I once was. Among the many, things I have learned about myself, and life, in general, for having to 'adjust' to a more, 'modified'-lifestyle, due to this, disease, is that one can NEVER take for granted anything in one's life, along with the reality, that, life can change, 'on a dime', without ANY forewarning. When a thing, as this, occurs, in one's life, striking one, unawares, and forcing one's hand to figure out a way to 'go on' and find renewed strength to persevere, it is a sure 'test-of-will' which will, inevitably, determine, EXACTLY what kinda 'cloth one is cut from'. Believe me...it's not an easy thing, to do...to 'change horses in the middle of the stream', to give up a life, once known, and not 'give-up', completely. It takes a great deal of courage and faith to 'keep on keepin' on', if you know what I mean? Whenever, we are 'called to task', in whichever way our life demands of us, we, ALWAYS, have a choice in the matter, as to how we'll cope and 'deal' with the challenge. Often, it may seem easier to, simply, succumb, and, let our, difficulties 'get the best of us'; but, this is not the answer. Although, we may falter and struggle to overcome our woes, as long as we continue trying to accomplish this, 'feat', we are moving in the right direction. The more we concentrate on our 'troubles' the more 'power' we give them; and, with enough, encouragement, they can take on a life-force of their own, leaving us the 'victim' of our, own design. Yes...sometimes, life DOES dole out difficulties, some which seem, horribly, 'unfair', and, hard to understand or comprehend; yet, since this, seemingly, on some level, IS the 'nature' of our life, here, on earth, to suffer, these, maleficent-moments, it is up to us to find a way to, not just, survive them, but, to thrive, despite them, and, be happy, regardless of them. Just Sayin'...
