Suspect Arrested After Robbing West Kingston Mobil, Police Say

Donald Price, 44, of South Kingstown, was charged with several crimes.

The following is from South Kingstown police:

On Monday, February 16, 2015, at 4:41 pm, a robbery occurred at the West Kingston Mobil located at 3411 Kingstown Road in South Kingstown, RI. A lone assailant entered the Mobil and passed a note to the attendant demanding money. The attendant complied and the assailant made away with approximately $240.00 cash.

The South Kingstown Police responded and obtained a description of the assailant and the vehicle the assailant was driven in to commit this crime. Based on evidence and information gathered by the police on scene, a suspect was quickly identified.

A search of this suspect led officers to a residence on Sand Turn Road in South Kingstown. Officers encountered the suspect outside of a residence walking through the snow wielding a knife. The suspect ignored several verbal commands from officers to drop the knife. The suspect converged on officers shouting, “shoot me, shoot me, I want to die.” A taser was deployed on the suspect allowing officers to safely detain the suspect and diffuse the volatile situation without having to potentially resort to deadly force. The suspect was transported to South County Hospital to be treated for alcohol incapacitation.

The suspect was identified as Donald Price, 44 years old, of South Kingstown, RI. Mr. Price has been charged with the following offenses:

  • One (1) felony count of 2nd Degree Robbery
  • One (1) felony count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.
  • One (1) misdemeanor count of Resisting Arrest.

Mr. Price was arraigned in 4th District Court on these charges and was remanded to the Adult Correctional Institution as he is a bail violator on a Breaking and Entering charge stemming from a South Kingstown Police arrest on January 15, 2015.
