Toe Jam Puppet Band Live At Marina Park

Dozens of toddlers, tykes and tweens gathered alongside parents at Marina Park on Tuesday evening to jump, jive and just plain old boogie down to the child-inspired musical duo.

The sun was warm and children's laughter rang through the early evening air as the Toe Jam Puppet Band struck its opening chords to a delighted audience South Kingstown youngsters on Tuesday at Marina Park on Salt Pond Road.

For 11 years Tom Poitras, singer-songwriter, and Vinny Lovegrove, master puppeteer, have captivated children across Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts with their unique ensemble of vocalic shenanigans, hula hoops, bubbles, up beat guitar rhythms and, of course, puppets.

Dozens of families picnicked on the parks grassy hill as tow-headed toddlers frolicked, danced and delighted in the music of the Toe Jam Puppet Band.

Be sure to check out a complete list of the South Kingstown Parks and Recreation Summer Concert Series' upcoming performances, set to run each Sunday through Aug. 21 with an additional Tuesday performance on Aug. 9.

"There really is something for everyone to enjoy throughout the series," said Pat Giarrusso, concert coordinator for the town's Neighborhood Guild. "Last week we had jazz, next week we will have an Ecumenical choir, we try to do something that is entertaining for everybody."

The two-month concert series was sponsored by Tarbox Toyota, Bank Newport and Pier Pizza Company of Wakefield.
