Top Holiday Events To Attend This Week

Is your schedule looking a little hectic this week? Patch has compiled a list of events and activities around town for your enjoyment, relaxation and entertainment.

Looking for an escape from shopping, wrapping and holiday haranguing?

We've been out  scouring the area, seeking entertainment and relief from pre-holiday madness for your enjoyment. Although Christmas week events are bountiful, please remember to call ahead for holiday hours and ticket information. Events are filling quickly, are subject to limited seating or may be sold out.

December 19, 2:00pm - Courthouse Center for the Arts presents Seussical the Musical. Based on the works of Dr. Seuss and his famous elephant, Horton, the magical musical tells the story of Horton and his journey into the world of the Whos.

December 19 - 23 The Contemporary Theater presents The Gift of the Magi at The Towers, 35 Ocean Road.

The Gift of the Magi, a musical, tells the story of Jim and Della who traverse the holiday season with little money, finding the true meaning of the season in their travels and each other. An adaptation of the classic O. Henry story, set to music and a 50's theme, the show is sure to bring holiday spirit to its audience.

December 21 2:00 & 6:00pm Maury Loontjens Memorial Library presents free movies with two screenings of the 1994 film One Christmas.

East Greenwich

December 19 2:30pm - The Academy Players present A Christmas Carol at the Varnum Armory. The classic tale in musical form was composed by Stephen DeCesare of the Academy. For information call 401-885-6910.  

December 23 5:00 - 8:00pm - The East Greenwich Holiday Stroll takes place Thursday evening in the spirit of last minute shopping. Merchants, local artists and performers will be on hand to greet shoppers and help out with those last minute gift ideas.

Westerly

December 19 at 4, 6 and 8:00pm - The Chorus of Westerly , the Boston Festival Orchestra presents Christmas Pops. Conducted by George Kent at the George Kent Performance Hall, 119 High Street, the chorus brings its musical holiday performance in traditional and contemporary carols.
