Town and State leaders will recognize the completion of the Marina Park Boat Ramp and Public Dock rehabilitation project on Thursday, Sept. 21st at 10am with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the ramp, 214 Salt Pond Road, Wakefield. Members of the community are invited to attend. The Boat Ramp Reconstruction Project was funded through the Town of South Kingstown Capital Improvement Program, and by Rhode Island's share of authorized and appropriated funds from the federal Sports Fish Recreation Act managed by Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management. This funding partnership has enabled the Town to fully replace the severely deteriorated ramp, along with the public dock; and also add full ADA accessibility from the parking lot to the dock, with the construction of a pathway within the green space adjacent to the ramp. An additional 40-foot section of dock was also added off the main dock, to allow for visiting boaters to tie up and enjoy the park and other local establishments in the Marina Park district.
