TripAdvisor Says Brickley's is Eighth Best Ice Cream Shop in USA
Fans of the ice cream shop on Main Street in Wakefield know this already.
South County residents know that Brickley’s Ice Cream, which has one location each in Narragansett and South Kingstown, has some seriously good homemade ice cream.
It looks like the rest of the country is finding out, too.
TripAdvisor recently put together a list of what it says are the 10 best ice cream shops in the United States and Brickley’s has landed at No. 8 on the list.

“Travelers can satisfy their sweet tooth at Brickley’s where more than 45 delicious flavors are available,” according to the travel website’s writeup. “Traditionalists can cool off with strawberry, sweet cream or chocolate, while those craving decadence can enjoy ‘Malted Milk Ball,’ ‘Coffee Oreo,’ or ‘Chocolate Brownie.’
To generate the rankings, TripAdvisor weeded out any place that had less than 100 traveler reviews and no more than 10 locations. The quantity and quality of the reviews mattered most and most-recent reviews were given more weight than older ones.

Brickley’s TripAdvisor page is a sea of five-dot reviews with customer after customer raving about everything from the ice cream to the friendly staff who scoop day and night with smiles on their faces. And they’re smiling even more these days after the latest nod from TripAdvisor.
“We are thrilled to be part of TripAdvisor’s top 10 ice cream shops in the country,” the shop tweeted on Tuesday. “Thanks for the great reviews from our customers.”
Part of the appeal, aside from the rich and consistently excellent hand-crafted ice cream, customers like the family’s story. Husband and wife duo Steve and Chris Brophy started the shop in 1995. The original location was on Ten Rod Road in North Kingstown and they eventually moved to Boston Neck Road in Narragansett. They eventually opened their second store on Main Street in Wakefield.
