Update: State Police Investigate Remains Found Buried at 2027 Matunuck School House Road
The state police have turned the remains over to the state medical examiner's officer, and a forensic anthropologist will be consulted.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI — State police today issued an update on the investigation into remains unearthed at a construction site at 2027 Matunuck School House Road.
The police were contacted on Saturday, Dec. 5 to investigate "possible human remains." Members of the State Police Forensic Services Unit responded.
"All possible remains were turned over to the Rhode Island Department of Health's Office of the State Medical Examiner for further investigation," state police said today.

Also, the state anthropologist connected to the State Medical Examiner did an initial examination of the remains.
"A follow-up examination, by a forensic anthropologist that the Department of Health contracts with, will be conducted in the next few weeks to attempt to determine the age of the remains," police said.

Speculation has started that the remains belong to a member of the family that once owned the property.
