Who's Little Rhody's Top Chef? Cook-Off to Benefit Alzheimer's Foundation Brings Out Assisted Living Chefs

Celebrity judges will decide who's the top chef among Rhode Island's assisted living facilities based on presentation, taste and creativity.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — Dig in for a night of fun and great food when the chefs at Rhode Island's assisted living centers battle it out for "Top Chef" honors.

The "Culinary Challenge for a Cause" is put on annually by the Alzheimer's Association, Rhode Island Chapter. The chefs represent South County Nursing and Rehab, Village House, Greenwich Bay, Bayberry Commons, Coventry Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, Elderwood Scallop Shell, Bethany Home, and Capitol Ridge.

This year, the event's Nov. 30 at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet.

Sample delectable gourmet cuisine, take part in a silent auction, and cast a ballot for your favorite chef along with a panel of celebrity judges, such as WPRI12's Mike Montecalvo, Johnson & Wales Chef Terranova, and local artist Paul Cote.

The cocktail reception starts at 5:30 p.m. Then at 6:15 p.m. the chef stations open for sampling by the general public, and visual display judging. Later that evening, the award presentation will take place when the celebrity judges determine the "Top Chef," based on presentation, taste, and creativity.
