3 Newport Beaches Closed To Swimming, Middletown Reopened
Gooseberry, Hazards and Fort Adams Beaches were all closed for high bacteria levels.
NEWPORT, RI — Three Rhode Island beaches were closed to swimming by the Rhode Island Department of Health on Wednesday. That same day, Surfer's Rock at Sachuest Beach in Middletown was declared safe and reopened.
Gooseberry, Hazards and Fort Adams Beaches all have high levels of bacteria in the water, making them unsafe for swimming.
Both Camp Grosvenor and the Upper and Lower Ponds at the Kent County YMCA in Warwick remain closed to swimming at this time.
