50 Crashes On RI Roads, Several Schools Close In First Snow
State police spending much of the night responding to weather-related crashes said no one was seriously injured.

The first widespread snow of the season caused some 50 crashes on Rhode Island roads, state police said Friday morning. No serious injuries were reported.
Most of the crashes occurred when the snow started to pick up Thursday night, between 7-9 p.m. By the morning, many of the roads were clear.
Several private schools were closed Friday, and Woonsocket Public Schools canceled class.

There were a small amount of scattered power outages by the morning. The worst of it came over the border in Fall River, which had more than 9,000 without power around 9:30 a.m. That was more than fifth of the power customers in the city.
