American Country Award Winner Chris Young to Close Successful 2014 Newport Concert Series at Newport Yachting Center

NEWPORT, RI, September 12, 2014 -- The 2014 Newport Concert Series at the Newport Yachting Center will celebrate its sixteenth and final concert of the season country-style when Chris Young with special guest Courtney Cole perform on Saturday, September 20th. Presented by WCTK: Cat Country Radio, the concert gates will open at 5:30 p.m. with Boston singer-songwriter and guitarist, Michelle Lewis on the Point Stage at 6:00 p.m. Music on the Main Stage will begin at approximately 7:00 p.m.

In 2006, Chris Young received national recognition when he won the singing competition on the television show “Nashville Star”. He has gone on to record numerous #1 singles, including “The Man I Want to Be”, “Voices”, “Getting You Home (The Black Dress Song)”, “Tomorrow” and “You”. Young was nominated by the Country Music Association for “New Artist of the Year” in 2007 and received a Grammy award nomination for “Best Male Country Vocal Performance” in 2010. Young followed those honors by winning American Country Awards for “Breakthrough Artist of the Year” and “Single of the Year” in 2011. His latest CD release is entitled, A.M.

A native of Mandeville, Louisiana, Courtney Cole made her journey to Nashville in 2005. Shortly after graduating from Belmont University, Cole was cast in the first season of Country Music Television’s hit series, “CMT‘s Next Superstar.” She quickly received her first songwriting deal and has written for the Music City’s biggest hit makers while recording herself and touring.

The Newport Yachting Center is located on the waterfront in the heart of historic downtown Newport on America’s Cup Avenue. The venue features a covered concert tent and ample open air space with stunning views of Newport Harbor.
