Four suspects were arrested after a search warrant at a Maple Avenue apartment in Newport, and investigators warn more arrests may follow as the case continues.
3. Newport gets $68,000 in FEMA grant for CPR devices (whatsupnewp.com) — Newport is set to receive more than $68,000 in FEMA funding for new CPR devices, boosting lifesaving equipment for local first responders. Prudence Island's volunteer fire department in Newport County will also get over $255,000 for portable radios, as part of a broader $2.7 million package for Rhode Island fire agencies.
4. Lowest regular gas price in Newport County hits $3.99 for week ending Sept. 19 (southcotimes.com) — Drivers in Newport County saw the lowest reported regular gas price hit $3.99 per gallon for the week ending Sept. 19, with Newport stations generally around $4.33–$4.39. The report, based on GasBuddy submissions, notes that Rhode Island's average regular price reached $4.37 and reminds residents that prices can change daily, so local pump costs may already have shifted.
