Funded entirely by hospital donors, the system will support urology, gynecology, thoracic, and general surgeries while strengthening local access to specialized care.
2. Newport Zoning Board Approves Pope Street Pool Plan (upriseri.com) — Newport's Zoning Board has approved a scaled‑back plan for a single‑family home with a garage and plunge pool at Pope and West streets, while denying a variance for a too‑small front parking space on Tyler Street. The board also ruled on several smaller petitions, from accessory dwelling units to a restored porch, adding conditions on screening, stormwater, and fencing that nearby residents should know about.
3. Bingo Night fundraiser benefiting Every Moment Matters Initiative (newportthisweek.com) — Newport residents are invited to a Bingo Night fundraiser at Hibernian Hall on October 22 supporting the Every Moment Matters Initiative's care packages and grocery assistance. With eight games, $300 in cash prizes, and limited space for 90 people, organizers hope to bring the community together for a fun evening that directly benefits local individuals and families facing difficult circumstances.
4. Broad Arrow's Audrain Auction: Bearcat, 300 SLs and More (motorious.com) — Newport will host Broad Arrow Auctions' inaugural Audrain Auction at the International Tennis Hall of Fame on October 2, bringing 65 collector cars, most offered without reserve. Local enthusiasts can attend preview days October 1–2 and see everything from a 1914 Stutz Bearcat to modern Ferraris and Mercedes, as part of the broader Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week festivities.
