Board members cited a self-created hardship, existing driveway capacity, and safety concerns about backing maneuvers, while noting the owner still has a 20‑day window to appeal the decision.

Newport Pride's annual Velvet Ball November 14th (turnto10.com) — Newport residents are invited to support the local LGBTQ+ community at Newport Pride's Velvet Ball on November 14 from 6–10 p.m. at Ochre Court Mansion, with proceeds funding year-round programming at the Spring Street Pride Center. Expect a "night in Spain" theme, flamenco performances, and Spanish tapas, all benefiting a brick-and-mortar resource right in town.

3. Newport Approves El Tapatio Liquor License on Broadway (upriseri.com) — Newport's City Council has cleared a new El Tapatio Newport restaurant to take over Pivotal Brewing's Broadway liquor license and approved the fire department's push to seek outside funding for a new training structure. Councilors also updated bicycle rules to include Spring Street and revised light requirements, approved several event and entertainment licenses, and made new board appointments affecting local civic life.

4. Police Report: September 14 to September 20 (newportthisweek.com) — Newport Police handled about 687 calls between September 14 and 20, including 115 motor-vehicle incidents, 27 crashes, and more than 100 parking complaints across town.
