Aquidneck Growers Market Takes Over Newport's Memorial Boulevard

The year-round farmer's market takes to the streets of Newport every Wednesday afternoon during the summer months.

NEWPORT, RI — Come enjoy the flavors of the season on the streets of Newport, every Wednesday during the summer season. The year-round Aquidneck Island Growers Market moves to Memorial Boulevard during the summer, providing a place to sample fresh, local food.

The market is held year-round on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Newport Vineyard and Winery in Middletown. During summer months, the market holds weekly pop-ups on Memorial Boulevard in Newport between Chapel and Edgar Streets on Wednesdays from May 15 through the end of October from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. A new location, yet to be announced, will be added on the city's North Side from July 1 through August 26 on Monday afternoons from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

All Aquidneck Island Growers Markets accept WIC and Senior Citizen coupons as well as a 100 percent bonus on produce for SNAP users.

The market features local produce, meats, cheeses, seafood, baked goods and more as well as live entertainment, children's activities and local artisans.

Newport city officials ask drivers to be extra cautious in the Memorial Boulevard area on market days, watching for extra pedestrians and cyclists. Parking in the area is limited, so market attendees are encouraged to walk, bike or take another for of alternate transportation if possible.
