Beaches in Newport and Middletown Reopen to Swimming
The health department recommended swimming closures Tuesday.
Closures at four of the five beaches closed to swimming yesterday have been lifted after water quality samples show bacteria levels have fallen back below acceptable limits.
The state Department of Health has recommended the reopening of Easton’s Beach in Newport and Atlantic Beach Club, Peabody’s Beach and Third Beach in Middletown to swimmers.
Warren Town Beach in Warren remains closed.

Officials will continue to monitor water quality and will announce when Warren Town Beach is safe for swimming once again.
