Boil Water Advisory Lifted In Newport
Water samples showed no presence of bacteria, the city said.
NEWPORT, RI — The boil water advisory in place across much of Newport and parts of Middletown was lifted Thursday night. Samples taken from the water show no bacteria is present.
Residents no longer need to boil their water before using or drinking it.
The advisory was put in place Wednesday following a major water main break at Gould and Warner Streets. Since then, the break has been isolated and repaired, the city said in a statement. Water samples taken after the repair had no presence of bacteria, the city said.
