Connecting Pennfield Students with People Around the Globe

New York Times Reporter in Egypt will skpye with Pennfield Students.

For the past few weeks Rob Kelley, the Pennfield Head of School, has had his Headmaster’s Classes read articles from David Kirkpatrick, a former student of his from when he worked at the Nichols School in Buffalo, NY.  Mr. Kelley will have David Kirkpatrick skype from Egypt with The Pennfield students on Wednesday, February 6th at 8:40 a.m. in the gym.  The Pennfield School plans to keep connecting its students to interesting people across the globe with more skype and in person interviews . 

 David D. Kirkpatrick is the Cairo Bureau Chief and the Middle East correspondent for the New York Times. He moved to Cairo for the Times in August, 2010, and began covering the region in January, 2011, just days before the start of the Arab Spring revolt. Prior to that, he was a Washington correspondent, covering Congress, Supreme Court confirmations, and the presidential elections of 2004 and 2008. In 2004, he focused on coverage of the conservative movement, especially American religious conservatives. He joined the Times in 2000, to covered the book industry for the business and culture sections. He has also worked as a contributing editor for New York magazine and a reporter for the Wall Street Journal.He lives in Cairo with his wife, Laura Bradford, and their two sons, Thomas, 7, and Emmett, 3. David graduated from Princeton in 1992 (and from the Nichols School in Buffalo in 1988).
