Jessica Hagen Fine Art + Design is pleased to announce the opening of SKYWARD featuring artists James Teschner and Anne Patterson on Saturday September 5, 2026, from 5:00- 7:00pm. This exhibition showcases the paintings of James Teschner and the sculptural orbs of Anne Patterson. Teschner, painting outdoors near his home in the remote farmlands of central France focuses on the setting sun, the moon, the sky, and “those moments leading towards nightfall, and the night itself, whereby the landscape is either being obliterated, almost devoured by the sun’s all-consuming luminosity or being dissolved by the receding, diminishing light.” Anne Patterson is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Brooklyn. Working across painting, sculpture, and installation, Patterson explores the ways our senses overlap, and how together they create an experience greater than the sum of its parts. Informed by her own synesthesia and her training as a set designer, she is often inspired by music and sound. Gallery owner Jessica Hagen states, “This is a magical exhibition. The radiance of James Teschner’s oil paintings coalesce with the glow of Anne Patterson’s gold-leafed orbs, resulting in a sublime alchemy. It’s really a very special show.”

Jessica Hagen Fine Art + Design was founded in 2005 and features contemporary art including painting, sculpture, photography, ceramics, textiles, and jewelry. Located in the historic Point section of Newport, the gallery’s hours are Wednesday- Saturday 11:00- 5:00 and Sunday 12:00- 5:00. The gallery is also open by appointment.
