Catch Dragonflies and Butterflies Thursday in Ballard Park
The quarry meadow at Ballard Park in Newport has many dragonfly and butterfly visitors.

Here’s an event worth checking out if the kids are entering the summer doldrums.
On Thursday, Aug. 7, Ballard Park is the place to be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. for children 6 to 12. They’ll learn about different species of dragonflies and butterflies, make their own terrariums to mimic the meadow habitat and a chance to use special collection tools to catch one and get a close-up look.
Not only that, the quarry meadow is a lovely place to be.
