Cicilline Wants You to "Voice Your Priorities" at Public Workshops

Congressman David N. Cicilline is hosting public workshops to get input from Rhode Island First District voters through January.

Congressman David Cicilline has his work cut out for him as a member of the minority party in the U.S. House of Representatives, so it’s crucial that he plans his legislative agenda accordingly.

And one of the best ways to do that is to sit down and speak directly with voters in Rhode Island’s First District, he said.

Over the next few weeks, Cicilline hopes to collect ideas and suggestions from residents through a series of public meetings with voters: the “Voice Your Priorities” workshops.

The first meeting will be on Jan. 24 in Newport in the community room at the Newport Police Station at 11 a.m.

“Over the next several weeks I will be seeking the input of hardworking Rhode Islanders and their families to make sure my legislative work plan reflects the priorities of my constituents, and I can think of no better way to do this than by hearing directly from the people I serve,” Cicilline said. “I invite all my constituents to share their priorities with me at my ‘Voice Your Priorities’ workshops and I look forward to hearing from everyone.”

Through his two terms in congress, Cicilline said he’s worked to “grow the economy, revitalize American manufacturing, strengthen public safety, make education more affordable, reform government, and bring federal resources to Rhode Island,” according to a statement. “During his third term Cicilline will incorporate the ideas shared at the “Voice Your Priorities” workshops in his legislative agenda as he continues to focus on the priorities of hardworking Rhode Islanders and their families.”
