Easton's Beach, Third Beach Closed To Swimming
The Middletown and Newport beaches were closed due to high bacteria levels.
NEWPORT, RI — Two East Bay beaches are closed to swimming due to high bacteria levels. The Rhode Island Department of Health recommended closing Easton's Beach in Newport and Third Beach in Middletown Thursday afternoon.
The department will continue to monitor bacteria levels at both beaches until it reaches safe levels. The most up-to-date beach closure data is available by calling the department's prerecorded beach line at 401-222-2751.
