Are you a teen in grade 7 to 12 who'd like to learn to play that guitar sitting in the corner of your room? Come to three free workshops for novice players, offered on Wednesday nights this October at the Newport Public Library. Participants will learn basic tuning, strumming, fingerpicking, 3 simple chords, and how to read TAB, the musical notation used by guitarists. All you need is an acoustic guitar, with all six strings, and a willingness to learn. Observers are welcome. Sign-up is required. Contact the Young Adult Department for more information, or to sign up, at 401-847-8720 ext. 206 or email at nptya@newportlibraryri.org.
