Newport Energy & Environment Commission to Host Public Meeting

-Building a Sustainable Pell School and Environment Issues to Be Discussed-

What is a "sustainable school", where can I find one and how can we have one in Newport? These and other issues will be discussed in a public forum presented by the Newport Energy & Environment Commission.

WHO:
                           Newport Energy & Environment Commission

WHAT:                         A public forum to inform and facilitate action by Newporters who have the opportunity to vote on a bond to build a new, cost effective, energy efficient, state-of-the-art elementary school in Newport, RI on November 2, 2010. There will be presentations from Joseph DaSilva, School Construction Coordinator at RIDE, Joe Eva Gaines, Chair of the Newport School Committee, Laura Wernick, Architect of the Pell School, and Pat Kelley and Lynn Ceglie, Ad Hoc Building Committee. A brief update on the work of the Energy & Environment Commission will open the program.

                                    The forum is open to the public and light refreshments will be served, courtesy of Newport Harbor Corporation. Other beverages will be available for purchase.

WHEN:                        October 21, 2010, 5:00pm – 8:00pm
                                          Program begins at 6:00pm

WHERE:                      The Newport Yachting Center
Sunset Tent at the end of Commercial Wharf
America's Cup Avenue, Newport, RI

ADDITIONAL INFO:    Exhibitors are invited to provide educational information at tables on subjects including energy efficiency, water infrastructures, wind, solar and geothermal power, and recycling. Non-profit organizations and student groups are also invited to exhibit. Time is provided to browse the exhibits before and after the program.
