Over A Foot Of Snow Blankets Parts Of Rhode Island Monday Morning
More than a foot of snow fell in parts of Rhode Island Sunday night into Monday morning.

Flights are canceled or delayed, buses are detoured, and nearly all students have the day off Monday following an overnight storm which dumped more than a foot of snow in some areas of Rhode Island. Parking bans are in place in nearly all cities and towns across the state.
Snow totals varied across the state, with the highest accumulation of 17 inches falling in Burrillville. Kingston and Jamestown tied for the least snow, getting just three inches each.

The Rhode Island State Police reported that there were 10 crashes between Sunday evening and 10 a.m. Monday, none of which were serious. In that same time, troopers assisted with more than 20 disabled vehicles. Drivers are reminded to leave extra time to safely reach their destinations Monday, and are required by law to clear all snow from vehicles before hitting the road, or face an $85 fine.

Flights into and out of T.F. Green Airport have been affected Monday morning, with nearly all departures before 11 a.m. either canceled or delayed. Fewer arrivals were impacted by the snow, though several early flights were also delayed or canceled. Airport officials encouraged travelers to check with their airline in advance to see if their flight has changed.
Several RIPTA bus routes were detoured throughout the morning due to the snow. As of 12 p.m., all bus routes have resumed regular routes and schedules.
Nearly all schools in Rhode Island canceled classes Monday, and parking bans are in place in cities and towns across the state.
Local colleges and universities canceled morning classes, with start time varying by school:
- University of Rhode Island: All classes at all campuses scheduled to start before 11:00 a.m. Monday are canceled. Classes starting at 11:00 a.m. and later will be held as scheduled. All online classes will be held as usual. A partial parking ban will be in effect from 8:00 p.m. until 10:00 a.m. Monday.
- Rhode Island College: All classes and activities before 4 p.m. are cancelled Monday, March 4, 2019 on main campus and RINEC. Parking ban in effect on Library Road until 4 p.m.
- CCRI: Classes and activities canceled on all campuses until 4 p.m.
- Brown University: All classes before 12 p.m. canceled, classes after 12 p.m. to be held at the discretion of the instructor. Administrative and academic offices will open at 12 p.m.
- Rhode Island School of Design: Opening delayed until 11 a.m.
- Bryant University: All day classes canceled. A decision on evening classes will be made by 12 p.m.
- Johnson and Wales University: all day classes, AM and PM culinary arts/baking & pastry arts labs and academic classes are canceled Monday.
- Salve Regina University: The Newport campus will open as scheduled, a two-hour delay is in effect for the Warwick campus only.
- Providence College: All administrative offices will be closed and undergraduate classes are canceled. SCE and graduate evening classes remain as scheduled.
