Friends of Ballard Park’s Homeschool Discovery Days

Friends of Ballard Park is pleased to present Homeschool Discovery Days, a homeschool series focusing on nature.  This monthly class offers homeschool students the experience of exploring Ballard Park, learning about the wildlife that call it home, and developing an understanding about why it is so important to protect our planet.  Through hikes, crafts, games, and take home activities, homeschool students will gain an appreciation and understanding for nature and learn how to be a good steward to the environment.

Students will hike through the trails, explore the quarry meadow, and identify animals, plants and habitats found in Ballard Park.  Classes are taught by Friends of Ballard Park educators and are designed to promote deeper awareness of Newport’s natural world through hands-on, inquiry-based outdoor activities.

Classes will be held monthly for four sessions: March 26; April 30; May 21; June 25 from 1:00 to 2:30pm. (In the case of inclement weather, the class will be rescheduled for the following Monday.)
