Housekeeper Busted For Stealing Nintendo System From Hotel Room
Police recover game system and games, then make another arrest for marijuana possession.

Housekeeper charged with stealing Nintendo game system
Shatera Richards, 22, of 35 Third St., Apt. 3, in Newport was arrested around 10 p.m. Monday on charges of larceny and violation of a no contact order. Police were called to the Wyndham Resort at 5 Washington St. after a family reported that a Nintendo DS Game System along with five games had gone missing from their room. Richards, a housekeeper at Wyndham, had cleaned the room and was traced by police to her Third Street apartment.
Upon arrival, officers met David Hernandez, 30, also of 35 Third St. Hernandez works as a carpet tech. at Wyndham and was found to have a no-contact order against Richards. Richards admitted that she had taken the game system earlier in the evening and returned the property to police. Hernandez told police he had marijuana on the premises and signed a search consent form. Officers uncovered 10 grams of marijuana along with a cigarette box filled with several roaches. Hernandez was charged with possession of marijuana and both suspects were arrested. Â
Newport man arrested on vandalism warrant
Steven Dickson, 35, of 35 Bedlow Ave., Apt. 1, in Newport was arrested at 5:15 Monday evening on charges of vandalism and malicious injury to property. Police picked up Dickson at his Bedlow Avenue home on a warrant from last October. On Oct. 17, 2009, Dickson had been arrested in the Bayside Village Apartments parking lot and found in possession of a tire iron. He had not returned to court for trial. Police followed a tip regarding his whereabouts and brought him in on the resulting warrant.
