Jimmy's Saloon Kicks Off 11-Day Live Music Marathon
Starting Thursday July 23, Jimmy's Saloon in Newport will be rocking for 11 straight days.

Jimmy’s Saloon, a popular Memorial Boulevard hotspot in Newport, is kicking off a marathon of live music beginning Thursday night.
For the next 11 days, Jimmy’s Saloon will be featuring local musicians of all sorts, along with artists from New England and around the country.
On Thursday, it’s a Tweed Leisure Folk Off event highlighting MELK, a group that includes Newport artists who’ve moved to Nashville and are making a return trip to their old stomping grounds.

“The weekend brings some heavy hitters with the Friday night performance of the nationally known act, Javelin, as well as the popular Northampton, MA band, And The Kids,” Andrew Hunter, entertainment director, said. “Able Thought and Olive Tiger round out this incredible Tweed Leisure bill. On Saturday, Folk Fest weekend favorites OldJack return with the 3rd annual installment of Newport Nights! This year’s lineup includes Tigerman WOAH, OldJack, The Curtis Mayflower, Bow Thayer, and Josh Buckley. Close out the big weekend on Sunday with a bunch of talented Providence artists including Rich Ferri & the Wealth on the Water, Denver Boot, Bored With Four, The Quahogs and Newport’s Anthony Daniels.”
Next week, Jimm’s is home to the 2015 Motif Rock Stage for Bridgefest, a local live music and education festival that “bridges” the gap between the Newport Folk and Jazz Festivals.

Monday brings traditional Algonquin drumming from Eastern Medicine Singers, the soulful crooning of Malyssa Bellarosa, the foot stomping Cannibal Ramblers and the folk stylings Cardboard Ox. Tuesday features the rock and roll of Sex Coffee, Nymphidels, Gavage and The Dust Ruffles with Newport’s award winning DJ Nook on the turntables.
For the first year in Bridgefest history, Hip Hop is being recognized with a night of performances by Providence’s Meta P and DirtyDurdie with Newport’s lyrical champion Kee-Words and DJ Dox Ellis on the 1s & 2s. Thursday you can celebrate the closing ceremonies of BridgeFest with performances from The Viennagram, Viking Jesus and The Ocean Mic All-Stars.
The live music continues the weekend of July 31 with an unofficial Tweed Lesiure Jazz Fest after-parter with Eastern Phoebes and special guests. On Aug. 1, WBRU Summer Concert favorites Jetty is on hand along with Gumption and Glory and The Big Little Tour.
And wrapping everything up on Sunday August 2nd is live Afrobeat and Latin music with The Superpowers, Full Tang and Infusion Evolution! Join us for an amazing 11 Nights of Music!
